Fashion is often discussed through trends, aesthetics, and market cycles, yet behind every visual movement lies a deeper cultural story. In this lunch talk, Marianna explores how fashion functions as a cultural system, shaped by collective memory, social narratives, and shifting identities.
The Soulfuls are going as a community to the premiere screening of ‘HJELM’, followed by a Panel discussion led by Soulfuls mentor and documentary director, Roja Pakari.
The film is directed by Marijana Jankovic and tells the story of her and her family's journey from the Balkan region to Denmark in the 1990s, and the challenges the family faces in their pursuit of a better life. Denmark is far from the fairytale land they had dreamed of, and everything comes at a price (the film will be in Danish).
Following the screening, there will be a panel with director Marijana Jankovic and journalist Nasra Jama, an alumni mentee and member of The Soulfuls Youth Advisory Board, moderated by documentary filmmaker ROJA PAKARI, who is a mentor at The Soulfuls.
