When Art Becomes a Voice with Aurélia Durand

Aurélia Durand, French visual artist, illustrator, and author

Join Our Lunch Talk

Colour can be a language. Movement can be a message. Joy can be a form of expression that travels across borders.

In this Lunch Talk, Aurélia Durand invites us into her vibrant visual universe, where illustration is not static, but alive, dancing, smiling, and communicating emotion. Through bold colours, playful forms, and expressive characters, Aurélia shares how her work becomes a way to connect with people globally, beyond words or geography.

Drawing from her practice across books, murals, campaigns, and animation, Aurélia reflects on how art can spark curiosity, spread good energy, and create moments of shared humanity. This session celebrates creativity as an emotional connection, a global voice rooted in joy, movement, and imagination.

About the Speaker: Her vibrant work celebrates identity, belonging, and cultural diversity through bold colours and powerful characters. She is the illustrator of the #1 New York Times bestseller This Book Is Anti-Racist by Tiffany Jewell, and the author of the books Dance for Joy, You Are an Artist, and Belonging. Her illustrations have appeared in books, campaigns, and collaborations with global brands including Google, Lego, Coca-Cola, and Sephora. Through her art and writing, Aurélia explores the experience of living between cultures and invites audiences to reflect on creativity, identity, and what it means to truly belong.
