Following the screening of ‘This is Not a French Film’, a Belgian meta-mocumentary that follows the director himself and other racialised filmmakers in a conversation about representation in the film industry, the conversation continues with The Soulfuls about the gaze that dominates the film world.
The documentary balances humour with a serious look at Belgium’s colonial history. It sets the stage for an important conversation about why the discussion of representation often goes round in circles.
CPH:DOX is a partner of The Soulfuls. The partnership focuses on championing the work of The Soulfuls: Building new opportunities for women of all backgrounds to enter into the creative industries, and on highlighting voices and knowledge in panels and events during the festival in March.
